General description

The Institute of Electron Technology (ITE) is a major Polish research centre with the primary focus on semiconductor micro- and nanotechnology, currently employing 296 people (9 professors, 13 associate professors and 43 PhDs). Department of Microelectronics, located in Kraków, with 12 full-time researchers, specializes in advanced ceramic materials for electronic applications.

ITE will focus on the development of new materials for the needs of the project, specifically, LTCC green tapes with high permeability and permittivity. ESRs/ER will be provided with easy access to equipment encompassing all parts of the LTCC process, from material preparation to test & measurement of completed structures, allowing them to develop a holistic understanding of the technology.

Key competences and facilities

The Department of Microelectronics in Kraków possesses a fully equipped state-of-art LTCC line. Equipment for SMT and high temperature thick-film process is also available. Current research areas include: development of high permittivity and high permeability LTCC materials, development of LTCC microsystems for RF and medical applications. Also, the research staff has relevant experience from other research projects, related to development of thick-film sensor materials and materials using carbon nanotubes in polymer matrix.
